The purposes
of the Core Competency Curriculum Guidelines are self-assessment and self-improvement.
They are not intended, nor are they appropriate, to test or to grade practicing or
aspiring court managers. Use of the Core Competency Curriculum Guidelines to evaluate the
performance of a practicing court manager would not be appropriate for a host of
technical and practical problems and is generally understood to be unacceptable to the
courts’ community and the National Association for Court Management (NACM). Further,
while all the ten Core Competencies, and related Curriculum Guidelines and KSAs are
crucial, NACM does not assume that any single court manager has or could
master every Core Competency, much less every single Curriculum Guideline area and KSA.The
ten Core Competencies
listed below link to self assessment exercises both for individuals and
for courts and professional organizations.
These exercises are intended to be used by courts and professional organizations to set
priorities and build relevant educational curricula and by individuals for self-improvement. Each Core Competency below includes
