In changing times, leadership meets its greatest challenges. But it is also in these times that leadership can have its greatest triumphs. As court leaders, you have the opportunity not just to change courts, but to transform them.
When NACM gathers in Minneapolis,MN, for the 2012 midyear conference, members will explore the theme of transformative governance. How do we lead the courts in times of change? How do we lead and manage in a rapidly changing environment? In keeping with NACM’s National Agenda – which sets as one of its priorities Promoting Improved Court Leadership and Governance – our workshop leaders and keynote speakers will give you insight into topics such as successfully leading change, achieving trust, filtering out what matters from the information overload, and making improved decisions.
On Monday, Dr. Roger Hall of Compass Consultation will lead off with a keynote address on “Combating Information Overload and Decision Fatigue.” In his follow-up workshop, participants will learn specific tactics for handling information overload so they can make better decisions … and maintain their mental health. Other workshops that day will include “Combating Technology Frustrations” and “Leading Change.”
Begin Tuesday with an energetic keynote address from Tom Langhorne of The Langhorne Group on “Courts Coping with the New Normal: Courts’ Unique Strengths and Coping Strategies.” His follow-up workshop will emphasize practical tips for enhancing court team trust, communicating honestly, and cementing courts’ ethical priorities in our courts. Take a 10-minute self-scoring Myers-Briggs test and commit your alpha score to memory before coming to the conference; the information will be useful in Langhorne’s workshops. Additional workshops will include” Energy: Harnessing Its Power to Drive Your Success” and “The Court Administrator: Your Role as Leader, Executive, and Transformer,” as well a an interactive workshop on ethics.
Networking opportunities, shared interest groups, a Super Bowl party, and an exhibit show will round out this three-day conference.
We hope to see you in Minneapolis.
