About NACM

Improving Public Access to the Courts

"Courts exist to serve the public, not to serve judges, court managers, or lawyers. Everything that mangers do are but means to an end and that end is service to the public."

Edward B. McConnell
President Emeritus
National Center for State Courts

Trial courts are public institutions that must be open and accessible. The court manager's role is to eliminate unnecessary barriers to court services. Location, physical structure, procedures, language, and the responsiveness of personnel can interfere with access.

  • NACM is committed to improving the public's access to trial courts and to educating the public on the role of the courts.
  • NACM coordinates Law Day programs throughout the country through its active and creative public information service.
